Scout Camp

by Jerrod:

Scout camp was pretty darn fun. It was 1 week long and it was pretty humid out there in the day. It was a stake scout camp so all the wards in our stake were there. We went to a scout reservation called Mataguay down by San Diego. The Food was good but we had to sing this weird prayer song until our stake president went up there and asked if he could say a prayer. There were a lot of merit badges to choose from and I earned five! I earned: Space Exploration, Astronomy, Wood Carving, Sculpture, and Environmental Science. Environmental Science was very hard but, after that class I was done with Merit Badges for the day so I would run to the swimming pool with all of my friends and we would have diving, trick, or splashing contests and I usually won the diving. On Wednesday we had a whole bunch of activities and the camp held a triathalon. We placed in the top three. Darwin swam, Andrew ran, and James biked. We placed in the top three. Then we had 4 different activities. Memorization, agility, aim, and teamwork. Then we had to make a boat out of ducktape and cardboard, so we made a surfboard and taped it to Darwin and he swam across the lake. Then after we saw some rocks on the floor all the other days we went skipping rocks at the lake at sunset. It was pretty up there espescially at the dining hall and at night and early morning it was perfect that is why we slept under the stars almost every night instead of our tents. So all and all Scout Camp was a great experience.

Getting ready to head to camp. Cool Flag, huh.
