Jerrod's Idea of Heaven

When we were walking down the Caesars's Palace mall, we found a shop that had some exotic cars for sale in it. Jerrod got so excited! Austin, sorry we didn't know about it last weekend. These cars are all super expensive and we see people driving ones really similar all over Las Vegas. This town is so full of money, it isn't rare to see a Lamborghini or Bentley. Derek and I were wondering what they all do and I told him I was sure that they were all D.O.s :)

Our Weekend

Thank you to the Jewish people for yet another long weekend. Derek had another 4 1/2 day weekend so we had fun. Friday night the kids brought home awesome progress reports so we decided to reward them a little by taking them to Chuck E Cheese. With coupons you can't beat the price. It's less expensive than going to a restaurant, a little noisier though. The Chuck E Cheese here has some cool games too!

Saturday, we hung out and then decided to go see the temple grounds. Unfortunately, the grounds were closed due to the Relief Society Broadcast so, we decided to go to the strip. We have been wanting to go show the kids the Venetian, so we went there and then we decided to go to the Caesar's Palace forum shops to go to the Cheesecake Factory for a piece of cheesecake. It turned out to be a good trip to the mall. Allison found $315 on the ground. We looked around to see if anyone was missing it and went and asked someone who worked there where we could turn it in. They said that there was no place to turn it in and that if we turned it into any of the workers that they would just pocket it. So, we decided to keep it. So, we voted on what we could get that the whole family would enjoy. The kids have been wanting a Nintendo Wii since we went to Elko so we got one. They have been having tons of fun with it.

This was a real person. I would have never guessed if Derek didn't tell me.

This is the ceiling in the lobby of the venetian.

Don't Walk Barefoot In Wal-Mart

The other day we all went into Walmart to look for some new speakers for our computer. I accidentally vaccumed up the cord to our old ones and it broke in half. Those Dysons can really suck! Ava is terrible about staying in the cart and we didn't have her shoes on so look at what happened to her feet. GROSS!

Check Out These Apples!

Today I canned apples. It made me look forward to the holidays. Apple pie. YUM!!

Lots to Catch Up on

We haven't posted in a while so it's time to catch up on our news. Derek had Thursday and Friday of last week off from school due to a Jewish holiday so it was nice for him to be able to have a few days with us. All of his block exams were over so he didn't have any studying to do. He has another holiday this weekend too!! Last week, Jerrod came home and told us he was running for Student Council and he had to have a sign done the next day so luckily Dad was home to help him out with that.

Unfortunately, he lost out to a girl who promised no homework Mondays and to bring candy to the school. The little Liar! :)

Friday, The Payne family, (some friends from Arizona) called and said that they were coming down for the weekend, so Jerrod got to hang out with Austin. He had a lot of fun and we had a lot of fun seeing them. Saturday morning Jerrod took Austin with him to a scout field trip they had planned at the Shark Reef at Mandalay bay.

After the scout field trip, Derek took the boys to the skate park and then we took the kids out to the resort Austin's family was staying at so they could swim for a little while. Derek, me and the girls all went to a bbq with some of Derek's classmates. It was fun to meet some of the wives. Then we met up with the Payne family at the strip and went to see the fountains at the Bellagio again. Then we went to the Mirage to see the Volcano. The boys were begging to go see the Luxor. Ever since they saw the show Mindfreak with Criss Angel, they have been obsessed with that place. For those of you who have no idea who Criss Angel is, he is a magician who does some pretty cool stuff and he films most of his stuff in Las Vegas and has levitated in the Luxor. We went to the Luxor and the Criss Angel store was closed. Jerrod had a mini meltdown but I reassured him we could go back sometime in the next four years. They had some of the mindfreak motorcycles on display so we took a couple of pictures of them. It was a fun weekend!

Our Weekend

We had a fun weekend with Jason. His job fair was a bust so we decided to have fun. On Friday, Derek, Jason and I went to Primm, NV (which is on the CA border) to ride the tallest rollercoaster west of the Mississippi. It has a drop of 220 feet and goes 83 miles per hour. It was plenty fast for me. After the kids got home from school we went to get Jason some new shoes. He wasn't in shopping shape :) Then, we headed to the strip. We parked at Caesars Palace and walked down to the Bellagio to see the fountains, which are so cool. Then, we headed down to the New York, New York where Derek, Jason and Allison rode the rollercoaster there. Allison loves roller coasters but I'm not sure if she loved that one. It goes upside down. I thought she was very brave. She was barely tall enough to go on it. We'll have to explore the rest of the strip another weekend!

Our Bedroom

Okay, some of you have requested pictures of the house. I'll start putting them on little by little. I went and bought some lamps for our bedroom because we have no overhead lighting and since we gave our night stands to the kids, I found some inexpensive end tables at Walmart so we would have somewhere to put the lamps. We finally got our property manager to send someone to clean the carpets yesterday. They look a lot better.

Pictures of Ginger

I thought I would post some pictures of Ginger welcoming Derek home.

Emma Loses A Tooth

Emma finally let her Dad pull her tooth out with the pliers tonight. It had been loose for a while. Here is a before and after shot.

Lake Mead

Saturday, we thought we would go check out Lake Mead. You all know how much we loved the beach at Lake Tahoe so we thought we would see if we could find a new spot to lounge our Saturdays away. We pulled up to the beach and the first thought I had in my head was "this is it?" But we made the best of it and ended up having a lot of fun. At least the water was warm. We have just become "Beach Snobs". The kids had lots of fun finding shells in the sand and Ava had a great time in the water. We only spent a couple of hours there and when we got home it was early evening. Our neighbors were all outside having a little mini block party. They were all very happy to see us. Our next door neighbor, Anthony, told us they have little get togethers but we didn't know Labor Day was one of those occasions. So, I threw together a cake quickly and we had a great barbeque in the cul-de-sac by our house.
