Happy Easter!

We hope you all had a great Easter! We had a nice, relaxing weekend. Derek was done with his test week finally so Saturday, we just kind of bummed around and finally got to coloring eggs about 9:00 pm. The kids had a great time although we think Ava was easier to color eggs with last year. This time she was very independent. As you can see from her hands she had a good time though. And a little sidenote about her hair. She bathed herself and washed her own hair but didn't rinse out the soap and refused to let us comb it. She thought it was pretty.

The Easter bunny visited our house and brought Allison a new watch, Jerrod some new sandals, Emma a hula hoop and Ava a bubble machine. Grandpa and Grandma Wahlstrom also got them the Cheaper by the Dozen movies which they love to watch. Now, back to reality tomorrow. Derek will have the week off but the kids and I have to go back to school.

This morning before church I wanted to get a picture of the kids all dressed up. Ava cooperated for a little while and then she was done so we headed inside where she proceeded to pose on the stairs. Keep in mind that I did not prompt her at all. She just saw the camera and started posing! This one was my favorite.

Poor Man's Pool

Well since we aren't fortunate enough to have a pool the kids decided today that the sprinklers would be just as fun. So, I finally let them go outside and run through them. I am sure we looked like total white trash since I am in my pj's still because I have been cleaning and doing laundry. Oh well. As soon as it gets a tad warmer we can go to Uncle Jason's apartment complex and use a real pool. I'm sure it won't be long. It's forecasted to be in the 80's by the end of the week.

Fun with Cousins

Jason and Jamey came down and left Brenden and Ashlyn with us while they went to L.A. so we decided to go have some fun. Friday, everyone wanted to skip school except for Emma so I took the rest of the kids to the park and let them play. They had fun. The weather was perfect. Poor Ashlyn got sunburned.

Jerrod, Allison, and Emma came home with their report cards on Wednesday and they all had straight A's so we told them that we could go to Chuck E. Cheese for their good grades. We were glad their cousins were here to go with us.

On Saturday, Derek took Brenden and Jerrod on a hike with Jerrod's cub scout den. They went to the Red Rocks. Brenden said it was the longest hike he had ever been on. Derek said it was about 1.9 miles. Later that afternoon, Jason and Jamey came home and surprised their kids with a new puppy that they decided to name Isa. Ginger loved the puppy and they played together really good. We had a good time with everyone here. It is always fun to have company! Who's next?

Looks like I am buying a tablecloth

After two days of begging me to paint their fingernails I finally gave in Saturday night. While doing Emma's I accidentally knocked over the bottle of polish remover on the table, and as I am wiping it off the stain came off with it. It made me sick to my stomach. I know it's fixable but I am just mad at myself. So, for now it gets a tablecloth until spring break when Derek and I have some time to strip it and stain it again. I never paint the girls nails on the table but for some reason I was in a hurry and decided it was a good place. Never again. Lesson learned.

Our Weekend

This weekend was so nice. It was in the mid 70s and so we decided to wash our filthy cars and clean out the garage. The kids had fun playing outside. Our drama girls were complaining that it was hot and so they each went and got an umbrella to shade them. I think they have forgotten what the summers feel like down here. While we were washing Derek's car I took a picture of his new license plate. He was excited to get it. His nickname growing up was dekerdo and so now he is going to be a D.O. so he thought it was clever.
